Byte Construct was engaged by MCB to refurbish the entry to the condolence lounge and toilet facilities of Norfolk Chapel at Karrakatta Cemetery. Works were completed in a staged approach to allow for funeral services to continue to be held in the adjoining chapel.
The new façade design incorporated bespoke steel framed doors and glazing with a unique pattern. The client required that the works be completed in a fixed timeframe to allow funerals to be planned in advance making it critical all elements of the build were pre planned. This included new supporting structure, detailing of the façade and glazing, and new operable walls.
In addition to the complexity of the build, the works were undertaken with an emphasis on the sensitive nature of the surrounding environments.
