Byte were selected by Main Roads to undertake this prestigious project to construct the infrastructure for a Bridge Climb and Zip Line on Matagarup Bridge. The bridge climb will include a 314 steps trek up the bridge to a sky view platform from where a zip line can be taken to Burswood Park foreshore.
Complexities of the project include working at heights over the bridge structure and water, and protection of the public below (which can be tens of thousands on Optus Stadium event days). The accuracy of sizing / fabrication to the existing structures is also critical.
The scope of works includes co-ordination of a 3D scan to enable fabrication of the structural steelwork (incorporating glass floor bridge) and installation of a 400mt zip line over the Swan River back to a landing platform in Burswood Park. The landing platform has drive piling concrete bases and structural steel deck connected to the park infrastructure via hard landscaping.
The Matagarup Zip Line will be a leading Tourism Icon for Western Austalia for the coming years and will be a great addition to the Burswood Park Precinct. It is excellent example of the versatility of Byte Construct.
