This exciting project is located on a newly reclaimed site within the existing Ocean Reef Marina, which is currently undergoing regeneration and expansion to become an iconic coastal development.
Byte has recently completed construction of the first two new buildings: the Ocean Reef Sea Sports Club (ORSSC) and the Marine Rescue Whitfords (MRW), which is shared with the Department of Transport.
The ORSSC is the new home for the existing Ocean Reef Sea Sports Club. It is a two-storey building comprising a reception, offices, staff and public amenities, function rooms, a bar, kitchen and stores on the ground floor, with club rooms, amenities, a bar, kitchen, stores, and an external balcony and sun deck on the first floor.
The MRW is also on two levels and comprises offices, amenities, crew rooms, stores and laundry on the ground floor, with a radio room, meeting and training rooms, amenities and offices on the first floor. The roof houses a 15.5m communications tower.
The kitchens and bars in the ORSSC are intended to provide day-to-day catering facilities for members and functions for up to 180 guests.
The facilities in the MRW have been designed to house the essential radio monitoring services that operate three rescue boats and train over 120 volunteers.
Externally, there are paved areas, a common landscaped area with grass, seating and soft plantings, and a children’s playground.
The project will be integrated into the wider development adjacent to extensive car parking facilities.
