Augusta Fire Station

The existing 350m² Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service (VFRS) facility required a series of alterations and additions to support operational efficiency. The scope of works included:

Construction of new change rooms, WC facilities, and a dedicated Breathing Apparatus wash-up area

Extensive upgrades and modifications to the existing workshop and wet areas

An extension to the appliance bay and construction of a new covered external area

External site works including installation of a secure access gate

The project was delivered in a fully operational, ‘live’ environment with 24/7 access to the facility maintained throughout construction. To accommodate this, the program was staged with building modifications scheduled incrementally, allowing new construction to progress in parallel without interrupting day-to-day operations.

Due to the nature of the upgrades, service shutdowns were required. These were carefully planned and communicated in advance to ensure minimal disruption to critical facility operations.

The successful delivery of this project is a testament to the strong collaboration between Byte and the Department of Finance, demonstrating our capability to support critical community services through well-executed, staged construction in live environments.
