Byte Construct was engaged to deliver an expansion and upgrade to the Home Economics classroom at Our Lady of Mercy College, Australind. This project enhances the school’s teaching facilities by creating a modern, functional, and interconnected learning space.
The scope of works included the demolition of external walls, stormwater drainage, and roof structures to allow for the extension of the existing classroom into the courtyard. The new structure seamlessly integrates with the existing buildings, maintaining architectural consistency.
Key upgrades included:
*Installation of a new grease trap to support enhanced kitchen functionality.
*Electrical submains upgrade to meet increased power demands.
*Mechanical ventilation systems for improved air quality at workstations.
*Construction of a new teaching space featuring 12 new workstations and a teaching bench.
*Creation of a flowing passageway between the expanded classroom and the adjacent commercial kitchen, improving accessibility and functionality.
This project supports the school’s commitment to providing high-quality facilities for students pursuing home economics and hospitality education.
