Margaret River’s iconic aquatic centre is now in the process of receiving its much-needed makeover. The pool has been emptied and stripped back, laying the foundation for a rejuvenated community hub that both locals and tourists can enjoy.

The refurbishment was initially prompted by significant structural damage to the roof and moisture issues throughout the centre. This challenge presented an opportunity to redesign and update the facility, enhancing its aesthetics and energy efficiency.

With an estimated cost of $8 million, the project includes structural reconstruction, a skillion roof spanning the entire building, and a new café space near the entrance, complete with an outdoor play area. Refurbished changerooms, new toilets, seating spaces, and public art will transform the centre into a contemporary, functional space for the community.

Accessibility improvements, such as new entrance ramps and upgraded accessible toilets, will also be incorporated. Set for completion in October 2023, the revamped centre will be ready just in time for everyone to dive back in!
