Byte Construct was delighted to be awarded the contract by the Department of Finance for the construction of the new Education Support facility at Lakelands Senior High School in 2022. We recently revisited the school to see the facilities being utilised and creating an environment that is both inclusive and unique to the students requiring specialised educational support. It was rewarding to witness first-hand the positive impact these buildings have made to the students and staff.
This project presented a unique challenge, involving the creation of two single-storey steel-framed buildings with face brick veneer, as well as the development of a new bus port and the reconfiguration of road works. One of the highlights of the project is the external walkway, adorned with panels crafted by a local artist, which seamlessly connects to the new structures.
Inside these newly constructed buildings, we were able to establish purpose-built classrooms for education support, versatile general learning spaces, a sensory room, and an independent skills room designed for life skills instruction. In addition, our scope extended to encompass both soft and hard landscaping, incorporating gabion walls, the construction of a state-of-the-art bike storage facility, and even a basketball court.
What makes this project even more noteworthy is that it was executed within an active school environment, with the utmost attention to the safety of students, staff, and the public. Byte Construct implemented rigorous separation strategies and proficient traffic management solutions, ensuring a secure construction process that did not disrupt school operations or result in any incidents
We’re incredibly proud of the team’s dedication and the successful completion of this project, which has made a positive impact on the education support facilities at Lakeland Senior High School. Thank you to everyone involved in making this achievement possible! #Construction #EducationSupport #BuildingSuccess
