Byte is proud to announce the successful completion of the Canning Vale College Support Hub, a project aimed at providing new education support facilities for students with special needs in Perth’s southern suburbs. The development includes a reception area, eight classrooms, staff offices, kitchens, an independent living skills classroom, universally accessible toilets, a basketball court, bike storage, a footpath with an overhung structure, and a bus port.
In 2020, Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery initiated investments in new education support facilities for these students. Byte was awarded contracts for Canning Vale College ($3.6 million) and Lakeland Senior High School ($4.7 million). With Canning Vale College now complete, Lakelands is also nearing completion.
The new facilities eliminate the need for students to travel long distances to access appropriate support in high-quality environments that cater to their educational and personal needs. Throughout the project, Byte Construct worked closely with the client and consultants, ensuring efficient delivery within budget and surpassing client expectations.
The project faced challenges such as material delays due to COVID-19 lockdowns and working on an active school site, prioritising student and teacher safety. To overcome these challenges, Byte rescheduled works to avoid critical path impacts and coordinated closely with the school to minimise disruptions to daily operations.
Byte takes immense pride in contributing to community-enriching projects like the Canning Vale College Support Hub, which enhance the lives of deserving individuals.
